Berry Sweet

" A little girl can be sweeter (and badder) oftener than anyone else in the world. She can jitter around, and stomp, and make funny noises that frazzle your nerves, yet just when you open your mouth she stands there demure with that special look in her eyes. A girl is Innocence playing in the mud, Beauty standing on its head, and Motherhood dragging a doll by the foot."
Alan Marshall Beck

Wow...We made an incredibly SWEET baby...She is so good...Very quiet...barely fussy...If she keeps this up...We think there may be need to harvest another angel.

So one of the funniest things about being a mom that I thought I would love but don't really get is ADORABLE OUTFITS...Sadie's Auntie Cindy gave her this amazingly cute BERRY SWEET outfit...and I couldn't figure out how the pants went on...I thought the pockets should be in the back but the tag was in the wrong spot...So Sadie may be wearing her pants backwards....but we like to think that she is just starting a new trend :) Don't these things come with INSTRUCTIONS...And I am not talking about the Baby...

Having a Child...

"Having a child is surely the most beautifully irrational act that two people in love can commit."
Bill Cosby
Our baby girl is beautiful...she is! She Is! The short labor of 7+ hours and 1 1/2 hours of pushing was easy....despite the pain and worry we felt shortly after she was born. Sadie was mysteriously quiet when she came out...not even crying after a foot prick. Even though she checked out good with the Apgar scores...Her saturation levels dived when she was going for her bath. She was put on oxygen, an iv and poor little thing even had to have a tube to get a gas bubble out of her little lungs! No wonder she can't let out a little ROAR....there is fluid in the way! To see her lay there under the lamp with an iv and tubes everywhere was heartbreaking...but we had FAITH :) The doctor noted premature lung growth and was assuring mom and dad she would be just fine! Phew!
On another note...since this is mom writing...I put up Bill Cosby's quote because it made me laugh...and sometimes you have to have things that make you smile and laugh when things are maddening...It is one of the most amazing feelings in the world to have created Sadie with not only my best friend but the love of my life. Mike was a champ coaching me through the labor....being patient as I begged for medicine to make me feel better...not to mention the last couple months of pregnancy which were rough on dad no doubt! To look into Sadie's eyes and to know that she is a combination of both me and Mike is perhaps the biggests if not the biggest blessings in my life. I cannot wait to watch our daughter grow into her features, resembling both me and him...and I cannot wait to spend each day sharing in the love we have for her with him...Thank you Mike...You are incredible!
